5. Blue Angel German Shepherd Dog Rescue
Blue Angel German Shepherd Dog Rescue is taking up the 5th spot on our list. They are a non-profit organization that is located in the humble streets of San Antonios and they are tasked with the mission of rescuing and rehoming German Shepherds that are deemed as unwanted and that are placed under death row in certain “kill shelters’’ located across the entire state of Texas. These dogs are adopted and are treated as members of a family.
The rescue program began after they had found an 11 month old German Shepherd by the name of ‘Dante’ living in the most deplorable of conditions in a shelter in San Antonio. Dante had been brutalized and abandoned by his previous owners. They took him in, gave him the appropriate medical services, and watched him come back to being a happy and well-loved German Shepherd dog. Dante was later lost to kidney failure years later.
Ever since the story of Dante, Blue Angel German Shepherd Dog Rescue has dedicated over 7 years of their lives to rescuing endangered German Shepherds like Dante and keeping them off the streets. Their dogs are properly provided with a safe space to live and are each given the right medical attention as well as food and support. You can show your support to their non-profit organizations by way of donations. The donations are used for the well-being of each dog. You can also adopt any of their Shepherds.

Final Thoughts
First off. I must say a huge thank you to all the rescue programs located on this list. They truly have done right by the German Shepherd breed. From the list above, my personal pick would be Good Shepherd Rescue of Texas located in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, and founded by Kathleen Higgins.
My reasons for choosing Good Shepherd Rescue are quite simple, their sheer level of experience and the services they provide their rescued dogs. They were founded in 1999, which means they have over 20 years of selfless love for the German Shepherd breed, and that speaks volumes for the program.
Also, the level of medical care they show their dogs is quite remarkable, testing and treating them for conditions like Ehrlichia, Lyme disease, and heartworms which is quite impressive.
Your decision to adopt a German Shepherd from a rescue in Texas or to donate or volunteer to one is quite selfless and honorable, for this, we say thank you. Do ensure you are careful when picking the right German Shepherd for you and your family. Check the website for more articles like this.
